He was predeceased by: his father Luis Hernandez II; and his stepfather Jim Raney. He is survived by: his mother Elva Raney; his brother Louie Hernandez of Caldwell; and his children, Elijah Hernandez of Caldwell, Joseph Hernandez of Boise and Jessica Hernandez of Nampa. He is also survived by four grandchildren.
