The family announces the passing of Maria (Mary) DeRuyter in Caldwell, Idaho on August 17, 2026. Maria, born on March 3, 1927, was part of many shared moments and relationships throughout life. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Nicolaas Tessel and Maria Tessel; her sister Mary; and her husband Bill. She is survived by: her children, Jake DeRuyter (Genny), Nick DeRuyter (Suzanne), Alida Estudillo (Fernando), MaryAlice Tadema (Glenn), Bill DeRuyter (Lisa) and Karen LePoullouin (Marc). She is also survived by 17 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
Viewing was held on Thursday, August 20th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Smith Funeral Home (528 S 8th St, Sunnyside, WA 98944). A rosary was held on Thursday, August 20th 2026 at 6:00 PM at the same location. A Mass of Christian burial was held on Friday, August 21st 2026 at 10:00 AM at the St. Joseph Catholic Church (907 S 6th St, Sunnyside, WA 98944).
