He was predeceased by: his parents, Guadalupe Alvarez and Angelita Hernandez; his wife Silvina Yanez; and his siblings, Miguel Hernandez Alvarez, Jesus Alvarez and Lupita Alvarez.
He is survived by: his children, Jose D. Alvarez of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Nancy Alvarez of Idaho Falls, Maria Guadalupe Alvarez Yanez of Idaho Falls, Ana-Maria Alvarez of Idaho Falls, Yolonda Alvarez-Yanez of Shelley, Gloria Alvarez-Guzman of Idaho Falls, Josefina Alvarez of Coachella and Martha Meza-Alvarez of Idaho Falls, Idaho. He is also survived by 27 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.
