It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Michael Elwood Nielsen (Idaho Falls, Idaho), who passed away on January 6, 2026, at the age of 86, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Elwood Nielsen and Helen Larsen Nielsen; and his siblings, Pamela Ross and Dennis Nielsen. He is survived by: his wife Vonnie Lee Schaefermeyer Nielsen of Ammon, Idaho; his children, Kirsten Rice (DelVon) of Iona, Idaho, Helene Thomas (David) of American Fork, Utah, Joshua Nielsen of Pocatello, Idaho, Nathan Nielsen (Lori) of Lehi, Utah, Kent Nielsen (Stephanie) of Rigby, Idaho, Seth Nielsen (Rosana) of Burley, Idaho and Genevieve Clark (Kenneth) of Rigby, Idaho; and his brother Jan Nielsen (Patricia) of Anchorage, Alaska. He is also survived by 27 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
