He was predeceased by: his parents, Barney Dennison Lanier and Nellie Barbara Merritt Lanier; his wife Wally J. Lanier; and his siblings, Melvin, Don, Bonnie and Lucille.
He is survived by: his children, Neil Bruce Lanier (Becky) of Idaho Falls, ID, Jerry Mark Lanier (Jari) of Rosemount, MN, Diane Storey (Jim) of Boise, ID, Carol Larsen and Mike Lanier (Cindy) of Idaho Falls, ID; his siblings, Frank Lanier (Marilyn) and Nadeen Phelps (Louise Williams) of Burley, ID; and his sisters-in-law, Blanche Lanier and Sharon Lanier. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to any veterans group.
