He was predeceased by: his child Russell Todd Barrus; and his parents, Carlton A. Barrus and Martha Evelyn Tetrick Barrus. He is survived by: his wife Celeste Lammon Barrus; and his children, William Marc Barrus (John Haworth), Kelly Lee Barrus, Larry Ann Wilcock (Jim Wilcock), Carlton Layfe Barrus (Jennifer Barrus), Crystal Rae Lawrence and Marcellus Quinn Barrus (Lidia Barrus). He is also survived by 30 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
