He was predeceased by: his parents, Johann Reil and Helene Garms Reil; his siblings, Heinrich (Elfriede), Friedrich (Barbel), Annelene Dost (Walter) of Germany and Karin Oltmer of Germany; and his siblings-in-law, Margaret Silflow (Marvin), Dorothy Schnaible (Fred) and Ted Meyer.
He is survived by: his wife Loeda; his daughters, Karen Larson (Mike) and Heidi Schaefer; his grandsons, Tyler Larson, Garrett Larson, Max Schaefer and Ben Schaefer; and his siblings-in-law, Marlene Meyer, Hermina Meyer and Gunther Oltmer. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews.
