Walter Lee Simpson Obituary

**Walter Lee Simpson**, 85, of Middleton, Idaho, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 30th. He was born to Everett and Rose Simpson in Seattle, Washington, on January 26, 1941.

Throughout his life, Walt was known for his patriotism, his love for his country, and his proud service in the United States Navy. Early in his career, Walt served as a police officer for the Boise Police Department. He earned his BA in Criminology from Boise State University. Following his regular military service, he continued serving for many years in Naval Reserve Intelligence as a “weekend warrior.” Alongside his military service, Walt spent the majority of his working life with Boeing in Seattle, where he was proudly a part of the Stealth Bomber division. Upon retirement, Walt returned to Middleton, Idaho, where he lived out the remainder of his life.

Family was one of the most important parts of Walt’s life. He is survived by his wife, Marie Simpson; his three daughters; three stepchildren; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and his younger brother. He was preceded in death by his parents and his older brother.

Those who knew Walt will remember him for his dry sense of humor—which, admittedly, some never quite “got”—and his unmistakable personality. He loved anything and everything nautical and spent much of his free time cruising the lakes of Washington and Puget Sound in his boat. After retiring to Idaho, he traded his boat for a Goldwing motorcycle and put many miles on it exploring the beautiful parts of Idaho and the surrounding states.

To his daughters, Walt was a loving, generous, and big teddy bear of a father who loved his girls with all his heart. He had a unique relationship with each person in his life, and his presence brought something special to everyone who knew him. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his family and all those whose lives he touched.

A memorial service will be held on **September 12th at 12:30 p.m. at The Trolly Station located at 310 Cornell St. in Middleton Id**.
