He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Edward Benson and Betty Ray Sox; and his significant other Joanne. He is survived by: his children, Ryan Benson (Catherine) of Nampa, ID and Brenda Boran (Brian) of Marshall, VA; and his siblings, Josie Hultz, Dean Benson (Carla), Debbie Cash (Terry), Charlote Benson, John Benson (Joni) and Montana. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
