He was predeceased by: his parents, Harley and Eldora; his brothers, Ronald and Larry; and his grandson Tyler.

He is survived by: his sibling Harley Dent Collins; his wife Ann; his children, Debbie Simpson (Mark), David Collins (Anna), Steve Collins (Nancy), Brent Collins (Sabra), Merilee Collins (Nathaniel) and Kaylee Verstoppen (Trampus); and his brothers, Dennis (Irish), Dale (Bobbi) and Doyle (Sue). He is also survived by 19 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
