He was predeceased by: his parents, Maebelle Berner and William Gilbert Berner Sr.; his wife Joan Helen Berner; his children, Carol Ann Oliver and James Harold Berner; and his granddaughter Alexis Jordan Berner-Coe.
He is survived by: his children, Bill Berner III, Richard Berner, Nancy Berner and Thomas Berner; his grandchildren, Nathan Berner, Kevin Berner, Dustin Berner, Miranda VanDamm, Bill Berner IV, Richard Berner, Cameron Berner, Erin Berner-Coe, Amanda Campbell and Spencer Oliver; and his great grandchildren, Nolan Reichard, Audrey VanDamm, Annaleah Campbell, Layla Campbell, Theona Berner, Olivia Berner and Clark Berner.
