Leland Earl Gorringe Obituary
Leland Earl Gorringe (80) passed away on November 7, 2025, at his home in Pocatello, ID surrounded by his loving wife and children.
He was born July 25, 1945, in Burley, Idaho to Mildred "Mickey" Shill Gorringe and Carl Gorringe, and grew up in Oakley with siblings Tom, Carla, and Dan. Oakley was always home to Leland- a place where he learned hard work and built many friendships and developed a lifelong love for sports. He graduated from Oakley High School, where his friendly personality began to shine, a trait that would define him throughout his life.
Leland met his high-school sweetheart, Marjorie Robinson, at Oakley High School, and they were married on June 5, 1963, and later sealed for time and all eternity in the Idaho Falls Temple on March 3, 1966. Together they shared 63 years together and raised five children: Tracy, Greg, Barry, Margo and Freddy.
Leland worked various jobs throughout his life including ranching, Simplot, the beet dump and later driving truck- jobs that fit his friendly nature. He never met a stranger and was known for his humor and love of visiting with people everywhere he went- even at the grocery store! He also loved camping and being outdoors.
After more than seven decades of living in the Oakley community they loved, Leland and Marj moved to Pocatello to be closer to their children and family support. He was immensely proud of and loved his 13 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his beloved children Tracie in 1982, and Freddy in 2004 as well as his parents Micky and Carl Gorringe, parent in-laws Dorothy and Ray Robinson, brothers in-law Dutch Robinson and Roy Judd, sisters-in-law Juanita Dayley, Jeralyn Madden and Nedra Robinson. He is survived by his loving wife Marj and their children Greg (Tanna) Gorringe, Barry (Melisa) Gorringe, and Margo (Derrick) Northrup.
Leland will be remembered for his kind heart, sense of humor, and the way he made everyone feel like family.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 14, 2025, at the Oakley Stake Center in Oakley. Burial will follow in the Oakley Cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 12:00 p.m. until 12:45 p.m. at the church prior to the funeral service. Arrangements are under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home, located on the Burley, Rupert Highway.
Leland was one of the best neighbors we could have had. We were new to Oakley, and Leland, and his sweet wife were the best. He seemed rough but deep down was a kind soul! When we found out they were moving to Pocatello we were sad. You will be missed young fellow! Justin Larsen So sorry to hear of Leland passing.I will always remember him for the sweet man he was . I loved his sweet sister Karla.hope all is well with the rest of the family loves Joan Critchfield Reece Leland was an absolute awesome next door neighbor. Marj, we are so sorry to hear of Lee's passing. We always enjoyed visiting with him (usually from his ATV). When we moved to Oakley, you guys were the first ones to come and welcome us to the neighborhood. Luckily for us he had a great sense of humor too. We always cringe at the day a strong gust of wind blew our daughter's trampoline all the way from our house and landed on your goat barn. When we came to apologize and remove it, he just simply laughed and commented on how high it must have flown to land there. He just recently called to check on us and we were so glad to hear his voice. He was such a good man that will be missed by so many!...
