She was predeceased by: her parents, Daniel Garza and Romana Garza; her stepmother Trinidad Garza; her siblings, Daniel Garza, Margarita Garza, Feliciana Garza, Samuel Garza, Trinidad Acosta, Susanna Gomez and Luisa Garcia (Rodrigo); her son David John Smith; and her grandson David Lane Almond.
She is survived by: her husband Norman B. Smith; her daughters, Debra Almond (R. Grant) and Susan Bitter (Wade); and her siblings, Mary Valadez (Hector), Carolina Garza and Rudolf Garza (Rudy). She is also survived by eleven grandchildren and twenty-one great grandchildren.
