He was predeceased by: his parents, Martin Mickelsen and Ann Mickelsen; and his siblings, Kenneth and Judy Nelson. He is survived by: his children, Joey Mickelsen, Jacob Mickelsen (Andrea), Jared Mickelsen, Kim Miller and Trish Greenup; and his siblings, Keith Mickelsen (Joyce) and Betty Myers. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren with a great grandson.
