He was predeceased by: his parents, Ruth Gohr and Gene M. Barney; and his siblings, Barbara and Wayne. He is survived by: his wife JoAnn Smith Barney of Grant; his children, Candace Deffendol (Pete) of Smithfield and Ryan Barney (Lacy) of Grant; his siblings, Keith Barney (Colleen) of Grant, Brett Barney (Steven) of Lincoln, Nebraska, Judy Merrill of Menan, Vicki Harriman of Garfield and Wanda Pincock (Mike) of Mud Lake; his siblings-in-law, Dick Merrill (Judy), Emery Smith and Machelle Smith; and his daughter Hilary DeFord (Mike). He is also survived by 11 grandchildren.
