He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas B. Thornes and Eleanor Thornes (Seaman); and his siblings, Eugene Seaman (Thomas Thornes) and Elaine O'Day. He is survived by: his wife Jane Ellis; his children, Benjamin (Katrin) of Austria and Heidi Waisanen (Michael) of St. Maries; his grandchildren, Cassie Waisanen (Steven), Jeffery Waisanen and Jimmy Thornes; his great grandchildren, Cooper and Olivia Lindquist; and his siblings, John (Tina) of Pennsylvania and Madelyn Berson of California.

Memorial donations may be made to Community Presbyterian Church or Benewah County Veterans Outreach Center.
