He was predeceased by: his significant other Loretta Hanchey; and his brother Leon Burkhart. He is survived by: his children, John Thomas, Jill Teresa and Jeremy Todd (Brandy); his grandchildren, Jeremy Hudson (Molly), Aaron Burkhart (Amanda), Joseph Burkhart and Hailey Burkhart; his great grandchildren, Mary, Wyatt Hudson, Rayna and Gage; and his friend Bill Burkhart. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and his cousin.
His contributions to the region stretched beyond pavement and roads—one of his most remarkable discoveries came at a quarry near the Snake River.
