He was predeceased by: his wife Julie Coates; his parents, William Coates Sr. and Wanda Coates; his brother James Coates; and his nephews, Chase and Bryan Coates.
He is survived by: his sons, Kelly Coates (Trisha) and Taylor Coates (Bailey); his siblings, Mike Coates (Sandie), Melanie Erickson and Merilee Jacobs (Micheal); and his grandchildren, Madison Bates and Braeden Coates.
