He was predeceased by: his parent Vera Swank; his stepfather Walter Lockwood; his sons, James Swank and Steven Swank; and his siblings, Philajean Lewis, Ramona Anderson and Jeff Lockwood.

He is survived by: his wife Barbara Jean Morlan; his sons, Michael Swank (Annalee) and John Swank of Abingdon; his grandchildren, Tyson Peterson (Brooke), Eric Swank (Kayla), Tiffany Vehmeier (Nathan), Jamie Swank, Harley Spangler, James Swank, Alyssa Icenogle (Sean), Brooklin Smith (Evan), Mark Payne, Jacob Payne (Sacha Bouse) and Amanda Payne (Paul Dopler); and his brothers, Harold Lockwood (Carol) of North Carolina, Walter Lockwood (Torie) of Alpha and Curt Lockwood of Galesburg, Illinois.. He is also survived by 21 great-grandchildren.
