He was predeceased by: his parents, Russell Onion and Lucille Onion (Hendricks); his wife Beverly J. Hatch; his siblings, Gene Onion (Glenadean), Betty Miller (Maurice), George Onion and Susan Howard (Bill); his son-in-law John "Spanky" DeJaynes; and his granddaughter-in-law Jamie Riney.
He is survived by: his children, Shelley Riney (Steven) of Peoria, Gail E. Onion of Abingdon and Shawn DeJaynes of Abingdon; his grandchildren, Jeremy, Justin, Stephanie, Jared Riney, Courtney Warner (Jake) and John Jacob DeJaynes (Jordan Osman); his great grandchildren, Reagan and Ryan Riney; and his sister-in-law Melba Onion.
Memorial contributions in his name may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, in honor of other family members who have been stricken with it and other forms of dementia.
