He was predeceased by: his parents, Orville James Schertz and Mary Elizabeth Schertz. He is survived by: his wife Lynda Schertz of Adair; his daughters, Jennifer Carrano of Macomb and Kari Faught (Derek) of Prairie City, Illinois; his grandchildren, Jayden Panapitiya, Raelynn Panapitiya, Wyatt Faught and Elijah Faught; and his siblings, Kim Wilson (Jerry) of Macomb, Illinois, Tim Schertz (Jackie) of Adair and Jim Schertz (Jenna) of Adair, Illinois. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Industry Assembly of God Church or the New Salem Fire Protection District.
