He was predeceased by: his grandfathers, Melvin Simpson (Gladys) and Pete Shughart (Anna); and his father-in-law Richard Taylor. He is survived by: his parents, Richard Simpson and Janet Simpson (Shughart); his wife Gina Taylor; his daughters, Grace Waldrup (Scotty) and Gretchen Alwardt (Tyler); his granddaughter Ellen Alwardt; his sister Kathy Dunn (Jeff); his mother-in-law Sherrie Taylor; his siblings-in-law, LeAnn Malecha (Steve) and Michael Taylor (Jodie); and his pets, Maggie and Max. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 23rd 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory (1007 North G Street, Monmouth, IL 61462). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 24th 2026 at 10:30 AM at the Alexis United Presbyterian Church (500 W Hunt Ave, Alexis, IL 61412).
Memorials can be made to the Norwood Cemetery or the Alexis United Presbyterian Church and can be sent to the funeral home.
