He was predeceased by: his parents, George W. Reiber and Maggie Reiber (McCarrell); and his siblings-in-law, Charles Calverley, Joann, Bob Johnson, Johann and Don Shearer.
He is survived by: his wife Clara Reiber; his daughters, Alena Pettyjohn (David), Kimberly Pierson (Greg), Sandra Wheeler (Jim) and Vicki Odundo of Kenya; his grandchildren, Joey, Lisha Pettyjohn, Jay, Amy Pettyjohn, Andrew, Chelsey Pierson, Caleb, Maura Pierson, Elijah, Mallorie Pierson, Brooks Wheeler, Meredith, Steve Bennett, Luke, Liz Wheeler, Allie Wheeler and Hannah Wheeler; his great grandchildren, Noah Pettyjohn, Fiancé'Valerie, Josie Pettyjohn, Jayden, Jake, Jep Pettyjohn, Jerica, Ainsley Pierson, Elisha, Emmett, Elsie Pierson, Lily Pierson, Kaden Meisaichi, Dane, Holly Wheeler, Maddy, Emma Bennett, Summer and Lilah Wheeler; his sister Esther Calverley; and his sister-in-law Judy Keepes (Eugene). He is also survived by nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 19th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Evangelical United Methodist Church (2010 N Cherry St, Mt Carmel, IL 62863). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 19th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Nelson's memory to Victorious Children's Home or to Hope Pregnancy Center.
