Horste of Altamont, Illinois, born in Olney, Illinois, who passed away on February 18, 2024, at the age of 77, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by : his parents, Ralph Horste and Mae Horste (Knight); and his brothers, Philip and Tom Horste. He is survived by : his wife Dee Horste of Altamont; his children, Chris Horste of Altamont and Julie Hummel of Lake St; and his grandchildren, Elaine, Audrey and Jack.

“So sad to hear this, Barry and I were friends and classmates from grade school through high school. I used to visit him at his home above Horste's Meat Market, and knew his parents and older brother, Tom. In fact, I roomed with Tom when I first moved to the Washington, DC area. Barry and I spent a lot of time and adventures together in our hometown, Grayville, IL. Never met a nicer guy. My heartfelt condolences to Diedre, also a friend of mine in high school, and the rest of his family.”
