He was predeceased by: his parents, Ralph "Pancake" Pontious and Lucille Pontious (Bricker); his brother Jim Pontious; his grandparents, John, Bessie Bricker, Clarence and ReEllen Pontious; his sons-in-law, Zach Lock and Jason Bowen; and his close friend Tracie Pontious.
He is survived by: his children, Macci Long (Jake) of Altamont, Ashley Bowen of Farina and Kenny Logsdon (Faith) of Bicknell, Indiana; his grandchildren, Levi of Farina, Jacob (Alli) of Farina, Jason of Farina, Rodney Bowen of Farina, Zaiden of Altamont, Gannon Lock of Altamont, Dalayna of Altamont, Paisley Long of Altamont and Erieyn Logsdon of Bicknell, Indiana; his siblings, Clarence Pontious of Effingham, Raymond Pontious (Nellie) of Effingham, Todd Pontious (Arlene) of Effingham, Emma Schmidt (Rick) of Watson and Jo Budde (Gale) of Watson; and his pet Spanky. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
