He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold Hovis and Rose Williams (Higgs); his great grandchild Azlyn Kollman; and his siblings, Jerry Hovis, Tonya Cathey and Scott Williams.

He is survived by: his daughters, Amanda Hovis, Watson and Maranda Hovis (Jake); his granddaughter Keja Hovis (Jonathon); his great grandchildren, Wrenley Hovis and Maddux Prather; his son Mater; and his siblings, Albert Higgs (Sharon), Jim Hovis (Lana), Virgil Hovis, Gary Hovis (Mary), Charles Williams, Reba Hovis, Joyce Williams, Lynn Pugsley (Paul) and Christine Donaldson.
