We are sad to announce that, on May 12, 2026, at the age of 72, Richard Burns of Altamont, Illinois passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, John Rourke and Shirleigh Rourke (Johnson); and his brothers, Jack Rourke, James Rourke and Thomas Rourke.

He is survived by: his wife Janet Burns; his sons, Rick Jr. Burns (Cheri) and Rob Burns; his grandchildren, Nathan Pontious (Remi), Brooke Burns, Jason Burns and Larson Burns; his great grandchild Ophelia Pontious; his siblings, Robert Rourke (Shelley), Patricia Galhouse (Kurt), Mary McCann (Paul), Michael Rourke (Jane), Sheryl Rourke, Joe Rourke (Colleen) and Russell Rourke; and his sisters-in-law, LaVerne Rourke and Andrea Rourke.

In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made directly to the Alzheimer's Association, http://www.alz.org.
