With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Cathy Piering in Alton, Illinois, who passed away on May 12, 2026 at the age of 75. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
As we bid Cathy farewell, let us not mourn the absence of her physical form, but rather celebrate the essence of her spirit that lingers in the spaces between moments. For Cathy is not truly gone, but merely transformed, her energy intertwined with the fabric of the universe itself, forever dancing among the stars.
She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Kenneth Edwin and Ruth Marie Scherer (Atteberry); her spouse Daryl David Piering; her siblings, Leni R Scherer (Kerry) of Alton and Julie A. Ewell (Lynn) of Meadowbrook; her brothers-in-law, Arnold Piering and Vernon Piering; and her nephew Joshua Piering.
Visitation will be held on Monday, May 18th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the St. Paul Lutheran Church (1327 Vaughn Rd #1890, Wood River, IL 62095). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 19th 2026 at 12:30 PM at the same location.
Memorials are suggested to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Wood River where she had been a member.
