Normia Jean Parkin Obituary

We announce the death of Normia Jean Parkin (Alton, Illinois), who passed away on September 21, 2026, at the age of 92. Normia will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. She was predeceased by: her husband Jim Parkin; her parents, Frederich Dirickson and Jewell Edna Dirickson-Montgomery; her son Jimmy Parkin; her stepson David Parkin; and her brothers, Don, Calvin and Fred Dirickson.

She is survived by: her daughters, Bjaye Greer of Alton and Judy Parkin of St. Louis; her grandchildren, Andrea Greer-LaTrasse and Ryan Greer; and her grandchildren-in-law, Jami Stratton Greer and Josiah LaTrasse. She is also survived by companions and caretakers.

In keeping with her love of nature, her remarkably successful "green thumb" endeavors, and her nurturing spirit, donations in memory of Normia Jean Parkin may be made to the Arbor Day Foundation.
