He was predeceased by : his parents, Orval Ford Smith Sr. and Annie Lee Smith (Moore); his wife Barbara Ann Goldman; his son-in-law Jerry Hack; and his brother David Smith.

He is survived by : his children, Terri Hack of Godfrey, Cheri Dover (Dick) of Godfrey, Denise Hansen (Terry) of Jerseyville, Sandy Bailey of East Alton and Dennis Smith of Tampa, FL. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.
