He was predeceased by: his parents, Dexter Atwood and Norma Lee Sholar (Schelle); and his brother Edward "Fast Eddie" Sholar Sr.. He is survived by: his son Richard "Rich" Sholar, Jr. of Alton; and his siblings, Michael "Elwood" Sholar, John Sholar (Shannon), Katherine "Kat" Brunaugh (Mike), Sandra "Sam" Rynders and Rhonda Elmendorf (Paul). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews great nieces and nephews and many lifelong friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 13th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Gent Funeral Home (2409 State St, Alton, IL 62002). A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 13th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
