He was predeceased by: his parents, Loren W. Hines and Olive L. Hines (Boyer) of Anna, Illinois.; his brothers, Lennie G. "Jerry" Hines, John R. Hines and Bobby Joe Hines; his sister-in-law Linda Wright Hines; and his close friend Julie Thompson.
He is survived by: his sister Debby Hines Kent (Ron) of Jonesboro, IL; his sisters-in-law, Diane Hines (Stark) of Kansas City, MO and Dianne Hines (Mayberry) of Anna, IL; his nieces, Jennifer Hines Kristoff (Dick) of Buncombe, IL, Stephanie Hines of Kansas City, MO and Hillary Hines-Holl (Tim Holl) of Clinton, IL; and his nephew B. J. Colson of Anna, IL. He is also survived by several great-nieces and great-nephews, and a host of friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in honor of James "Hack" Hines.
