He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Gene and Carolyn Cates (Crowell). He is survived by: his daughter Jessica Cates (Bryan Todd) of Anna; his stepdaughters, Laura Livingston (John) of Olive Branch and Tory Dodson of Thebes; his grandchildren, Jamie Ford and Creighton Todd; his brothers, Jeff Cates (Kim) of Anna and Patrick Cates (Laura) of Cobden; and his niece Samantha Cates (Ethan Kirkman).
Visitation was held on Monday, May 11th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home (301 W Spring St, Anna, IL 62906). A funeral service was held on Monday, May 11th 2026 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
