He was predeceased by: his parents, John Elias and Beverly Elias; his son James Asa Steenbergen; and his great grandchild Everligh Oberhokamp. He is survived by: his wife Paula Kee; his children, Jenny Sparlin (Chad Jones), Amy Page, Jonathan Elias, Aaron Elias (Lindsey), Nate Elias, Tanner Elias (Maddy), Lyndsey Bigham (Vandal), Harley Steenbergen (Heather), Christopher Steenbergen (Estelle), Jeanne Manley (Arnie) and Priscilla Lage (Aaron); his siblings, Jackie Timm, Sherry Maurice (Paul) and Tom Elias (Anna); and his sister-in-law Regina McCarty. He is also survived by 34 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren, several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
Memorials may be made to La Chateau Park in Annawan or Sons of the American Legions Post 1233 in Colona.
