He was predeceased by: his parents, Alfons Baele and Florence Baele (Breyfogle); his siblings, Julius, Lawrence, Agnes and Patricia; and his grandsons, Joe Croegaert and Barrett Lawson.
He is survived by: his wife Doris Baele (Haverback); his sisters, Mary Elaine Ahlgren and Doris Ann Baele; his siblings-in-law, Marvin Haverback (Annawan) and Sister Betty Jean Haverback; and his children, Lorraine Ufheil (Eric), Lu Anne Coppejans (Kenny), Lanette Croegaert (Jerry), Lavern Baele (Vickie), Lynn Baele, Lyle Baele (Deanna) and Loren Baele (Jennifer). He is also survived by his family and cherished his role as "Papa" to his 17 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
A rosary will be held on Friday, October 2nd 2026 at 3:30 PM at the Vandemore Funeral Home - Atkinson (214 S State St, Atkinson, IL 61235). Visitation will be held on Friday, October 2nd 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Saturday, October 3rd 2026 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM. A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, October 3rd 2026 at 10:30 AM at the St. Anthony Catholic Church (204 W Main St, Atkinson, IL 61235).
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Annawan-Alba Fire and Rescue and Sacred Heart Cemetery.
