She was predeceased by: her parents, Justo Nunez and Maria Rodriguez Nunez (Hernandez-Gonzalez); her former husband Homer John Chappell; her siblings, Hector Rodriguez and Isabel Garcia; and her son-in-law Glenn Peterson.

She is survived by: her children, Nancy Dvorak (John), Sheila Chappell-Peterson, John Chappell (Julie) and Randy Chappell (Mary); her siblings, Maria Cruz, Fernanda Clark and Israel Rodriguez; her grandchildren, Michael Chappell (Jessica), Ana Bentin (Jeremy), Richard Dvorak (Amanda), Abbey, Baylee, Dillon and Shannon Chappell; and her great grandchildren, Hudson, Rory, Nora Bentin, Lucas and Mia Chappell.
