He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard and Katherine (Zuercher); his siblings, Richard, Barbara Horna (George) and Paul (Oxana); and his nieces and nephews, Kyle Ippoliti, Alexander, Andrew Fliss, Dominic and Anthony Purciarello.

He is survived by: his spouse Patrice (Simpson); his child Thomas; his siblings, Kathy Ippoliti (Keith), Bonnie Fliss (Al) and Clement; his siblings-in-law, Mary (Simpson) and James Purciarello; his niece Beth Majerus; and his nephew Justin.

In lieu of flowers, gifts in memory of James Majerus will support Dr. Odenike's leukemia research at the University of Chicago Medicine.
