He was predeceased by: his spouse Pearl Elovitz; and his siblings, Janet Lewis (Charles) and Marylin Bahcall (Ross). He is survived by: his siblings-in-law, Michael Elovitz (Judy) and Howard Elovitz (Tobey); his nieces and nephews, Bruce, Sheri, Amy, Bonnie, Daniel, Steven, David, Adam, Anna, Jonathan, Geri and Liz; and his cousin Linda Kahn.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Southern Poverty Law Center, Doctors without Borders, ACLU, Greater Chicago Food Depository.
