It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Merrie E. Ickes (Arlington Heights, Illinois), who passed away on April 20, 2026, at the age of 85, leaving to mourn family and friends. As we bid adieu to Merrie's earthly form, let us not dwell on the void left in her wake, but rather celebrate the legacy of love and inspiration Merrie has bequeathed us. For though she may have departed from our sight, her spirit remains a timeless beacon, guiding loved ones through the labyrinth of life's journey.
She was predeceased by: her daughter Hazel Sassine. She is survived by: her children, Victoria Clayton (Bob), Dawn Watson (Don), Robert "Bud" Lautz and Carla Mungons (Kevin); and her stepdaughters, Michelle Byersmith and Denise Davis (Toby). She is also survived by 20 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.
