“We’re at 3000’ circling over Corvallis, Oregon in a Piper Cherokee airplane. We’re on our way to visit our brother Larry in Santa Rosa. Seattle flight following has informed us that our radio signal is breaking up such that they are unable to maintain contact. My reaction is to abort. Paul says we should circle for awhile, and he’ll use his Swiss Army knife to open the mike up and check the connections. I do while he does, and, in short order, he finds and fixes the problem. And we go on.”
