He was predeceased by: his wife Barbara Katz (Schaffner); his parents, Milton Katz and Margaret Katz (Rappaport); and his brother Irwin Katz (Dena). He is survived by: his children, Steven Katz (Michelle), Marcia Pozen, Liz Severyns and Adored; his grandchildren, Michelle (Geo), Danny (Jesse), Tyler, Nathan, Marissa, Hannah and Rachel; and his close friend Alysa Stein.
