He was predeceased by : his parents, Wilbur Sheldon and Dorothy Sheldon (Barnett); and his brothers, Robert and John. He is survived by : his daughters, Rebecca Smith (Adam) of Arlington, IL and Nicole Sheldon of Aurora; his grandchildren, Taylor Slaughter, Abigail Nawara of Aurora, IL, Hannah Penoyer of Ottawa, IL and Richard Debenedetti Jr. of Arlington, IL.; and his brothers, Thomas Sheldon (Patricia) of Aurora, IL and Richard Sheldon (Tanya) of Alvarado, TX.. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in James' name would be appreciated to Shooting Park Road Baptist Church, 4281 Shooting Park Road, Peru, IL 61354.
