With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Donald Elmer Cappel (Ashton, Illinois), whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. He was predeceased by: his parents, Elmer F. Winker and Irma M. Cappel Winker (Strassenburg); his brothers, Peter H. Winker and Jimmy Winker; and his siblings-in-law, Rich Schellhase, Wallace Faulk, Harold Hoyt, Fred Andrews, Martha Hoyt and Barb Hoyt.
He is survived by: his wife Frances Louise Hoyt of Rochelle; his children, Jeff Cappel (Annette) of Rochelle, Dale Cappel (Anita) of Sycamore, IL, Donna Curie of Deer Park, IL and Jim Cappel (Carrie) of Rochelle; his sister Joann Schellhase of Webster, FL; his siblings-in-law, Joan Winker of Frankfort, IL, Mary Faulk of Crystal Lake, IL, Teri Hoyt of Ottawa, IL, Sally Hoyt of New Lenox, IL, Ruthie Andrews of Sun City, FL, Bill Hoyt (Betty) of New Lenox, IL, Dick Hoyt of Rochelle, IL, Bobby Hoyt of Naples, FL and Wayne Hoyt of Redondo Beach, CA; his grandchildren, Colleen Bastian (Paul), Adam Cappel (Erin), Kelli Nelson (Christopher), Matthew Cappel (Amanda), Nicole Curie, Amanda Bolstridge (Nick), David Curie (Anna), Lauren Curie Danielson, Jon Cappel (Bria), Amy Forrester (Brandon) and Michael Cappel; and his great grandchildren, Hanna, Brody Bastian, Annandale, Arnis Nelson, Briggs Forrester, Viviana, Kyra, Tia Curie, Grayson, Nora, Josie, Carter, Emma, Cameron and Callen Cappel. He is also survived by 126 nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 16th 2025 from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the Reynolds United Methodist Church (2496 Reynolds Rd, Ashton, IL 61006). A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 16th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the same location.
Memorials may be made in Don's memory to Serenity Hospice and Home.
