He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles J. McGrail and Mary Rita McGrail (Cheeseman); his parents-in-law, Robert and Leona Bailey; and his sisters-in-law, Nancy, Susan and Carol.
He is survived by: his wife Janet; his children, Jenniffer McBride (Rick) of Ashton, Jackie Fransen (Brian) of Ashton, Illinois, Jamie McGrail (Sara) of Poplar Grove and Jason McGrail of Dixon, Illinois; his grandchildren, Brandon, Kyle, Nathan McBride, Nora, Charlie McGrail and Henry Fransen; his siblings, Maureen Marzano of Colorado, Tom McGrail (Vickie) of Oklahoma, Mike McGrail (Gayla) of Minnesota and Richard McGrail (Julie) of Illinois; and his brothers-in-law, Les Bailey (Joan) of Wisconsin and Kevin Bailey (Pat) of Illinois. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 22nd 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Beverage Family Funeral Homes - Ashton (601 Richardson Ave, Ashton, IL 61006). Viewing will be held on Wednesday, September 23rd 2026 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the St. John's Lutheran Church (803 Paddock Ave, Ashton, IL 61006). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 23rd 2026 at 10:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Franklin Creek Grist Mill & Franklin Creek Conservation Association in honor of Jim's love for the outdoors. Donations may be made online at Franklincreekconservation.org.
