He was predeceased by: his parents, Viola Schoppe and Reinhardt John Schoppe, Sr.. He is survived by: his wife Elizabeth "Betty" Schoppe; his sons, Steve, Dr. John (Elizabeth), Mike (Brenda) and Mark (Jennifer); his grandchildren, Jenna, Renae Millhouse (Dave), Ryan (Chloe), Erica, Matthew, Luke and Julia; his great grandchild Mary; his sister-in-law Betty Schoppe; his brothers, Robert (Loretta) and Willard; and his brother-in-law Arnie Wallden (Mary Lou). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may made to Westminster Presbyterian Church.
