She was predeceased by: her parents, Edward Nichols and Emily Nichols (Hepp); her husband John Van Welzen (Jack); and her brother Edward Nichols. She is survived by: her sister Marybeth Bowen (late William); her nieces and nephews, Kathleen C. Martin, Lisa Schopp (Brian), Michael Bowen (Meredith), William Bowen III, Geoffrey Bowen and Timothy Bowen; and her great-nieces and great-nephews, Alex Bowen, Ethan "Ryder" Bowen, Chase Bowen, Taylor Bowen, Hayden Bowen, Cooper Bowen and Jaxon Schopp.
A celebration of life was held on Friday, September 18th 2026 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the Saint Anne Catholic Church (551 Boulder Hill Pass, Oswego, IL 60543).
In lieu of flowers, donations to Lurie's Children's Hospital or Catholic Relief Services (crs.org) are appreciated.
