He was predeceased by: his parents, Rev. Louis Purcell and Zelda Purcell; and his siblings, Don Purcell and Jan Nettles. He is survived by: his wife Tonia Edgar; his children, Julia Purcell (Mike O'Neill), Jennifer Harris (Barclay), Robert Purcell (Amanda Urban), Amie Bollmann (Duane Taguacta) and Alisa Knowles; his grandchildren, Julian Garcia (Adi), Jarred Robert Garcia (Sarah), Jeramey Garcia (Erin), Jacob, Tyler Harris, Christopher Purcell (Marisa), Shelby Ouelette, Kaley Purcell, Aidin Taguacta, Ava and Austin Knowles; his great grandchildren, Liam Garcia and Alton Purcell; and his siblings, Tom Purcell and Linda Lehman.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 12th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Zieren Funeral Home (1111 Clinton St, Carlyle, IL 62231). A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 12th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the same location.
