He was predeceased by: his parents, Karl Young (Penny) and Mary Ellen Stearns Young; his son Tommie; his grandparents, Charlie, Amy Stearns, Stanley K. Young and Peg Weddington; his siblings, Mike Young, Stanley C. Young and Linda Young; his in-laws, Kenneth and Thelma Bainter; and his sister-in-law Maria Owens.
He is survived by: his wife Kathryn; his children, Ruchelle Murphy (Miles) of Crown Point, IN and Ken Owens (Elizabeth) of Liberty, IL; his granddaughters, Abygale Miller (Nathan) of Merrillville, IN and Kaitlyn Murphy (Dannie Lynn) of Seattle, WA; his sisters, Sue Young of Barry, IL, Caroline Richards of Barry, IL and Sandra Young of Barry, IL; and his brothers-in-law, Charles Owens of Pittsfield, IL, Johnnie Owens (Maxine) and Bill Bainter of Barry, IL. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 9th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Niebur Funeral Chapel (629 Mortimer St, Barry, IL 62312). A masonic service will be held on Monday, June 9th 2025 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 10th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the same location.
Memorials are suggested to be made to Pittsfield, IL American Legion Post 152.
