She was predeceased by: her father Melvin Valerius; her parents-in-law, Frank and Loretta Varel; and her siblings-in-law, Stanley Varel, Linda Wesselmann and Keith Doelling.
She is survived by: her mother Hildegunde Valerius of Belleville; her husband Gregory Varel; her children, Denise Gurlen (Jeffrey) of Collinsville, Diane Moore (Jarrod) of O'Fallon and Josh Varel of Bartelso; her grandchildren, Lincoln, Weston Gurlen, Hannah, Corinne, Sabrina Moore, Gavin and Riley Varel; her siblings, Laurie Sparwasser (Butch) of Waterloo, James Valerius (Sherry) of Belleville, Linda Hubbard of Belleville, Jill Schaefer (Tony) of Youngsville, NC and Bruce Valerius (Donita) of Florida; and her siblings-in-law, Mary Varel of Bartelso, Ronald Varel (Mary Jo) of Arkansas, Marvin Wesselmann of Carlyle, Geralyn Doelling of Venedy and Mark Varel (Debra) of Beckemeyer. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, plants, and other gifts, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, St. Cecilia Parish, or Santa Fe Volunteer Fire Department and will be received at the visitation or by mail at Moss Funeral Home, 535 N 5th St. Breese, IL 62230, who is serving the family.
