He was predeceased by: his parents, L. Richard Whitney and Marie Fleisher Whitney. He is survived by: his wife Rene; his sons, Robert Whitney Jr. (Diana) of Naperville, IL and Dr. Richard Whitney (Cheryl) of Naperville, IL; and his stepdaughter Teri Wilson (Matt) of Clinton, IL..

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Living Hope Community Church in Bartonville or to a local pet rescue organization of your choice, in honor of Bob's lifelong dedication to animals.

“My condolences to the Whitneys, so many great memories growing up with Rich, Bob, Mom and Doc. Like when they fed me cow's toung wthout telling me (the anticipation on all thier faces waiting to tell me was priceless) Doc was the first to let me drive on the roads before I had a license, but I was looking at the Tachometer and thought I was doing 35 but was really doing about 100! Or him in a rocking chair in the back of my truck on his 40th b-day driving in his neighborhood ... and many more!!””
